Overview of Organization:
The Solicitor General Division oversees the Attorney General’s Office appeals, with a particular focus on civil suits. The Special Litigation Division is charged with investigating all administrative, general, and tort claims made to the State Appeal Board. These divisions defend state laws in both state and federal courts.
Internship Summary:
The Solicitor General and Special Litigation Divisions are looking for interns interested in appeals and high-impact litigation.
Responsibilities:
- Substantive brief writing
- Legal research
- Observing or participating in oral argument
Preferred Qualifications:
- Excellent legal research and writing skills

Location, Modality, and Commute:
We have a two-day in-person requirement but expect summer interns to be in the office most days unless they have a conflict. Our office is located at 1305 E. Walnut Street, Des Moines, IA.
Start and End Date:
Summer internships will take place between June 2 and September 26, 2025, with specific dates to be determined by the employer partner and intern during the interview process.
