Student Advisory Board

The Student Advisory Board (SAB) provides leadership and a critical student voice at the IOP.

Divya Mehrotra

Divya Mehrotra is a fourth-year in the College majoring in Business Economics and Political Science from the San Francisco Bay Area. On campus, she is involved with the University of Chicago’s Pre-Law Chapter of Phi Alpha Delta, the Undergraduate Law Magazine, and the International Policy Program at the IOP. She also interns for Dr. Damon Jones of the Harris School of Public Policy and for the IOP’s Career Development team. In her free time, Divya loves cooking Indian food, drinking tons of hot chocolate from Ex Libris, and puzzling.

Elisabeth Snyder

Elisabeth, a fourth-year in the College from northern Virginia, is studying Public Policy and Law, Letters, and Society. At the IOP, she co-chairs SAB and has previously served as the fellows ambassador team lead for Génesis Davila, a fellows ambassador to Keisha Lance Bottoms, an IOP communications intern, and an events ambassador. In her spare time, she loves to run along the lakefront while listening to politics podcasts!

Kate Davis

Kate is a fourth-year from New York City majoring in Public Policy with a specialization in artificial intelligence. In addition to serving as a member of SAB, Kate is Co-President of UChicago Democrats and a leader on Bridge's Civic Engagement Team. In her free time, she loves doing hot yoga and spending time with her two cats on campus, Tubby and Cowboy!

Isabella Dowgiallo

Isabella is a third-year from Los Angles studying Public Policy and Data Science as well as pursuing a joint Master's degree in International Relations with a specialization in International Security. Before joining SAB, she served as the Civic Engagement programming intern and was a member of multiple CE groups as well as an event ambassador. In her free time, she loves to cook and read horror novels.

Shannon Dye

Shannon Dye is a fourth-year Political Science and Human Rights double major from Falmouth, Maine. At the IOP, she is Co-Chair for UChiVotes and a member of the Student Advisory Board. In her free time, she plays on the women's club soccer team and binge watches TV shows.

Layla El-Sherif

Layla is a second-year from Frederick, Maryland majoring in Global Studies and Economics . At the IOP, she is part of Leaders of Color. Layla loves reality TV and has seen almost every season of The Bachelor.

Katie Fraser

Katie is a fourth-year from Dallas, Texas, majoring in Public Policy with a specialization in Education and Juvenile Justice. In addition to serving as a member of SAB, Kate is Co-Chair of W+ and a volunteer with Bridge's IYC Team. In her free time, she loves reading (particularly memoirs) and attempting to cook new vegan recipes!

Robbie Hlatki

My name is Robbie and I am a second-year studying Public Policy and Business Economics. I'm originally from Boca Raton, Florida. At the IOP, I am a Senior Writer for The Gate and an academic-year intern. A fun fact about me is that I once dressed up as the Burj Khalifa for Halloween.

Alyssa Manthi

Alyssa is a third-year hailing from Antioch, IL. She is pursuing a double major in Global Studies and Religious Studies, with a focus on the intersection of religion and politics. She is specifically interested in what part religion plays in peacemaking and restorative justice. In addition to being a member of SAB, Alyssa is the Outreach Chair of W+ (an IOP civic engagement group for women and gender minorities). In her free time, you can find Alyssa drinking a hot chai-der from Plein Air or writing for Firebird Magazine.

Christopher Phillips

Christopher is a fourth-year student from Pomona, CA, about 30 miles east of downtown LA, studying Economics and Political Science. He is the president of the College Republicans and the publisher and editor-in-chief of the Chicago Thinker, UChicago’s conservative and libertarian premier student publication. His passions include studying history and geography and following current events. In the future, he’d like to work in law, politics, and/or government.

Alexandria Porter

I'm a fourth-year in the college pursuing a double major in Public Policy and Global Studies. I'm from Glenwood, IL, which is one of the south suburbs of Chicago. I am interested in social policy, such as housing and education, but I am happy to talk about any subject. At the IOP, I am the Logistics Co-Chair for Leaders of Color, as well as a member of the Student Advisory Board. In my free time, I enjoy taking advantage of student tickets to listen to the Chicago Symphony Orchestra!

Irene Qi

Irene Qi is a fourth-year from Bethesda, Maryland, pursuing a double major in Political Science and Law, Letters, and Society with a minor in History. She is especially interested in the intersection of law, global capitalism, and sociopolitical reform. Besides serving on the Student Advisory Board, Irene has also been involved with the Civic Engagement team and worked as a fellows ambassador and team lead. Outside of class, Irene enjoys art, scuba diving, and exploring the food scene of Chicago.

My name is Ben, I'm a fourth-year student majoring in Economics and Public Policy. I have been an intern at the Institute of Politics and I am currently on the Student Advisory Board. Besides the IOP, I have interned at Save the Children, Seven Letter, and most recently at the White House. Fun fact, I am a huge Kentucky Basketball fan.
