The Student Advisory Board (SAB) provides leadership and a critical student voice at the IOP.
Lindsay is a fourth-year majoring in Political Science and French. At the IOP, she's one of the co-chairs of both SAB and UChiVotes. When she's not at the IOP, you can find her giving tours around campus, chairing at Model UN, or doing research in the Political Science program. In her free time, she loves to run, bake, and attempt to learn languages on Duolingo.
Robbie is a fourth-year student studying Public Policy and Economics and International Relations. He's originally from Boca Raton, FL. At the IOP, he's co-chair of SAB and a fellows intern! Last year, he also served as co-president of UC Dems. He's interned in Capitol Hill, the DNC Host Committee and the National Park Foundation. He enjoys playing golf, hiking, running, and traveling the world.
Layla is a fourth-year from Frederick, Maryland majoring in Global Studies and Economics. At the IOP, she's co-chair of Leaders of Color and a member of SAB. This past summer, she interned at Civic Consulting Alliance. She currently works at the Costume Shop at the Logan Center of the Arts, and outside of class, she likes to sew and read.
Eva is a fourth-year from New York City pursuing a BA/MA in Public Policy and Social Science. At the IOP, she is Managing Editor of The Gate and a member of SAB. She's interned in DC for the past two summers, both on the Hill and in the private sector, so she's happy to answer any career questions! Outside of the IOP, you can find her tap dancing, going on excessively long walks with an iced coffee, or at Solidcore.
Carter is a fourth-year from Morgantown, WV, double-majoring in CEGU and Public Policy. At the IOP, he's been an event ambassador, voting ambassador, and Speaker Series Intern. Outside of the IOP, he's co-president of both UCDems and UCGeo, and a member of the quiz bowl team, Transit Enthusiasts, Environmental Research Group, and Chamber Music Program. He has interned on the Hill, for a non-profit in Boston, and for the National Park Service in Iowa. In my free time, he likes to run on the Lakefront Trail, explore Chicago, and play board games with friends in Shorey House.
Amara is second-year from Lagos, Nigeria, studying Public Policy and CEGU with minors in Film and Mandarin. Outside of the IOP, she is Head of Community Service for the African and Caribbean Students Association, works as a Residential Assistant, works in outreach at the Student Wellness Center, and serves as a research assistant. She has previously interned on Capitol Hill and with the Lagos State Government, conducted research with the Bezos Earth Fund and WWF, and served on several UN delegations. In her free time, you can find her playing sports, doing something creative (especially film, music, dance, and poetry), or trying to convince her friends to join her for an adventure somewhere new.
Alina is a fourth-year pre-med student majoring in Public Policy and Gender Studies. She serves as chair of Spectrum at the IOP and as an undergraduate research coordinator at the Chicago Center for HIV Elimination on campus. She is passionate about bridging medicine and policy to advance health equity and interned for Governor JB Pritzker’s Office of Equity this past summer. She's also part of UChicago’s South Asian Student Association. Outside of academics, she enjoys listening to music, playing futsal, and oil painting.
Greer is a fourth-year studying Art History and English on the pre-law track. Originally from Orlando, Florida, she's a part of the women’s soccer team at UChicago. This past summer she worked for Congressman Webster (FL-11) in his DC office and loved working for the people of her home state! In her free time, she likes to watch horror movies, cook, and paint.
Madeleine is a third-year from Spokane, Washington studying Political Science and Economics. At the IOP, she is part of W+, IPP, UChiVotes, and SAB. She also does research with the Chicago Project on Security and Threats on campus. In the past, she's done internships related to researching global extremism, and she's also worked for Ben and Jerry’s for three summers! Outside of school, she likes to bake and read.
Oscar is a third-year studying Economics and Political Science. At the IOP, he's been an Events Ambassador, a Fellows Ambassador and a member of SAB. He recently interned at the Robin Hood Foundation in New York working on poverty alleviation. Outside of class and the IOP, he likes to play poker with friends and visit aquariums. Hannah is a second-year from Boston with interests in classics and political science. At the IOP, she's a member of W+ and SAB and a former fellows and event ambassador. She's interned in local government and political consulting across the political spectrum. In her free time, you can find her at Hillel, where she leads the egalitarian student minyan, playing ultimate frisbee with UChicago Supernova, or sipping tea and knitting with her friends.
Ella is a fourth-year pursuing a BA/MA in Political Science. At the IOP, she's co-chair of W+ and a Fellows Team Lead, and she's involved with UC Dems. In the past, she's interned in political consulting in D.C., education policy, law, nonprofit and donor engagement, and with ABC News at the 2024 Democratic National Convention. She grew up in LA and loves the beach, traveling, fashion, and museums!
Aparna is a third-year student studying Public Policy and Human Rights on a pre-law track. She's originally from Washington, D.C. At the IOP, she is co-chair of Bridge and a section editor for The Gate. She is also involved with the Undergraduate Law Magazine and the Paul Douglas Institute. In the past, she interned at a legal aid organization for domestic violence survivors and at the Public Defender Service in D.C. She loves baking (especially cookies), knitting and crochet, and watching rom-coms.
Oliver is a fourth-year CEGU major and BA/MA student in International Relations. He's also a part of Spectrum and SAB at the IOP, and he also co-chairs UCDems. Outside of politics, you can find him on campus running Theater[24] or performing Shakespeare with the Dean’s Men. He's interned on campaigns in his hometown of Toledo, OH, on Capitol Hill, and in organized labor. He was a Boy Scout for twelve years, and you will still catch him wearing flannel and hiking boots in all weather.
Yaran is a fourth-year from China double majoring in Business Economics and Political Science. She went to high school in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and she has loved learning from people with different backgrounds and perspectives. At the IOP, she previously worked as a Civic Engagement intern and served as an Event Ambassador and Fellows Ambassador. Outside of school, she loves taking ballet or Pilates classes, exploring Chicago, or planning her next trip.
