Overview of Organization:

World Business Chicago is dedicated to driving inclusive economic development in the city, focusing on key sectors that shape the future of Chicago's economy. Our Business Development and Workforce Development (BDWD) team is engaged in attracting foreign investment, facilitating partnerships, and hosting international delegations.

Internship Summary:

We are currently seeking an enthusiastic undergraduate or graduate studies intern to join our Business Development and International Affairs team. This internship offers a unique opportunity to engage in projects that impact various sectors, including manufacturing, transportation, distribution and logistics, life sciences and healthcare innovation, fintech, and food and agtech.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in research and analysis of market trends and investment opportunities.
  • Support the development of outreach materials.
  • Help coordinate events and meetings with international delegations and partners.
  • Contribute to reports and documentation related to business development initiatives.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong analytical and research skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.

About the Supervisor:

Your supervisor will be Karla Ruth Orozco Toledano, the VP. of Economic Development at World Business Chicago.

Location, Modality and Commute:

We have an office in the Loop. Our team works 3 days in the office and 2 days remotely.

Start and End Date:

The Academic Year internships will take place according to the IOP’s timeline, with specific dates and weekly hours to be determined by the employer partner and intern during the interview process.

  • Onboarding: November – December 2025
  • Intern Work Period: January – May 2026
Modality Notes

Our team works 3 days in the office and 2 days remotely. So we are flexible.

Commuting Notes

We are very close to the red line stop at Washington, and the green line stop at State and Lake and about a 5-minute walk from the Metra at Millenium station.
