Internship Summary:
Mission Control Inc. is seeking a Political Data Intern to support our Data and Targeting team. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about campaign strategy, data analytics, and voter outreach to gain hands-on experience in political data work. Interns will assist in developing voter contact universes, analyzing electoral trends, and creating data-driven insights that guide Democratic campaigns and organizations. This role is ideal for students, recent graduates, or individuals looking to gain practical experience in political data and targeting.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in creating targeted voter contact universes for Democratic campaigns.
- Conduct research on electoral results, district demographics, and voting trends.
- Support the team in data collection, analysis, and reporting to help inform campaign strategy.
- Assist in creating visual representations of data and trends.
- Stay up to date on the latest research, tools, and methodologies in political data and targeting.
- Provide general support to the Data and Targeting team as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Interest in Democratic politics, electoral strategy, and data analysis.
- Strong proficiency in Excel and Google Suite (Sheets, Docs, Slides).
- Familiarity with VAN/Votebuilder or PDI is a plus.
- Basic experience with data visualization tools (Google Data Studio, Tableau, PowerBI) is helpful but not required. Knowledge of SQL, Python, or GIS is a bonus but not necessary.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Willingness to learn new skills and adapt to new challenges.

Location, Modality, and Commute:
We are fully remote, with most staff located in Washington, DC, and Hartford, CT.
Since the IOP requires a hybrid modality, the IOP requires the selected student to be present in Washington, DC, for at least half of the duration of the internship, participating in IOP programming. The student has the flexibility to stay in Washington, DC, or relocate to other places after this requirement is fulfilled, preferably to cities with Mission Control Inc. staff presence.
