Overview of Organization:
NEJ Consulting is a boutique political fundraising firm working with Democratic elected officials and progressive organizations. We are seeking an intern to support our fundraising operation in all capacities directly. This is an excellent opportunity for anyone interested in pursuing a career in Democratic politics or broadly within the fundraising/non-profit development sector.

Internship Summary:
We are seeking an intern based in Los Angeles for the summer to help with client staffing but will consider remote candidates if they will work Pacific Standard Time (PST) hours.

Responsibilities:
- Assist with the logistics and general planning of client events and meetings
- Conduct donor research and prospect potential supporters
- Draft briefings and call sheets for clients
- Interface with donors, event hosts, and other key stakeholders
- Maintain fundraising databases to ensure donor information is up to date
- (If in-person) Help staff clients as needed

Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Keen interest in politics and public service
- Excellent attention to detail (and general organizational ability)
- Strong writing skills
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and juggle multiple tasks at the same time
- Interpersonal skills and the ability to ‘cold call’ donors and other stakeholders as needed

About the Supervisor:
Naomi Jefferson is the founder of NEJ Consulting LLC, a boutique development firm. Prior, she was Vice President at Capital Strategies, where she served as a lead national fundraiser for Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s historic re-election, as the national finance director for then-Congresswoman Karen Bass, and as the finance director for an Independent Expenditure (IE) effort to successfully elect Karen Bass as the first woman Mayor of Los Angeles.

Location, Modality:
Preference for in-person but will consider remote candidates - The California Endowment,1000 Alameda St, Los Angeles, CA 90012

Start and End Date:
Summer internships will take place during the period of June 10 - September 27, with specific dates to be determined by the employer partner and intern during the interview process.
