Overview of Organization:

Cor Strategies is a Midwest political expert company. Founded in 2009, we’re the largest center-right political company in Illinois. To date we’ve worked with over 700 candidate and referendum campaigns and 200 local governments, business & organizations. We use our expertise and relationships to make a difference by doing work that matters. Our mission is to move communities forward by helping people, organizations and causes progress commonsense center-right principles and promote the public good.

Internship Summary:

We are interested in a Marketing Intern to work with our experienced marketing and political team members to generate effective content and assist the campaign team in various research projects. This individual will help develop social media and other marketing content, while also working with the political campaign to pull voter data that can be used to convey the campaign’s message to targeted audiences.

Ideal interns will be able to take on social media and content development, script & concept editing, video editing and audio correction, and want to seize an opportunity to be creative and pitch new ideas and projects.

The Marketing Intern must be a self-starter, have excellent attention to detail and welcome guidance. They must be proficient at multitasking, embracing challenges and delivering results. Candidates must be comfortable working in a center-right political environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in creating social, audio and visual content that grabs and retains an audience’s attention while remaining on message.
  • Stay current on events, trends and conversations; regularly pitch compelling, new ideas.
  • Help manage the production life-cycle of social media, video, text and audio projects for the campaign.
  • Perform research and assist gathering voter data that will be used by the political team.
  • Assist with with day-to-day campaign tasks, including scheduling and identifying events and campaign activities.
  • Facilitate feedback with the internal team throughout project timelines.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience in marketing, content creation, or campaigns with an interest in further honing these skills.
  • Experience with photo and video editing platforms like Adobe Premiere and Photoshop.
  • Self-starter with ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent attention to detail, guidance, branding and messaging.
  • Personable and friendly, able to interact professionally and constructively.
  • Trustworthy, respect for confidential information and able to conduct work with discretion.
  • Strong commitment to Cor’s mission, vision, core values.
  • Passion for the field and interest in growing with an innovative firm.

About the Supervisor:

Your supervisor will be Ryan Kilduff. Ryan started as an intern for Cor in 2013 and has worked his way up to leading Cor’s day-to-day operations and the quickly growing team. He began his career in politics in 2011 with an internship in the office of Senator Mark Kirk after graduating from Northern Illinois University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science. Ryan worked on a handful of campaigns prior to joining Cor, including Sidney Mathias for State Representative and Tom Hayes for Arlington Heights Mayor.

  • Our team works remotely and can work around the intern's schedule. We do have team meetings every Monday at 2pm.

Start and End Date:

The Academic Year internships will take place according to the IOP’s timeline, with specific dates and weekly hours to be determined by the employer partner and intern during the interview process:

  • Onboarding: November – December 2024
  • Intern Work Period: January – May 2025
Modality Notes

Our team is in the office every Monday and often on Wednesdays. Ideally, our intern would be in the office on one of those days or as their schedule allows.
