On October 6, Judge Brett Kavanaugh was sworn in as an Associate Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court, ending one of the most controversial confirmation processes in recent political history. As Justice Kavanaugh takes his seat on the bench, what can Americans expect from the upcoming term? How will his presence - and the hearings that preceded his confirmation - affect the Supreme Court? And what about public faith in the court as an impartial institution? To debrief the Kavanaugh confirmation, join the IOP as we welcome David A. Strauss, Gerald Ratner Distinguished Service Professor of Law and Director of the Jenner & Block Supreme Court and Appellate Clinic. Professor Strauss will be taking student questions in an informal conversation, offering insight into the dynamics at playin the highest court in the nation. Dinner will be provided. This event is part of the IOP's new series, #Trending, which brings students, faculty, and staff together to create an atmosphere of political conversation and exploration at the IOP.
