The United Stats of America with FiveThirtyEight’s Nate Silver

As the 2020 presidential primaries kick into gear, so do the 2020 presidential predictions. With a barrage of hot takes and horse-race updates just around the corner, how should consumers of news discern the merit of various predictions? What have analysts learned from the surprises of 2016, and how have those lessons prepared them for 2020? Which data trends should we keep our eyes on through the next two years? Join the IOP as we welcome back to campus Nate Silver (AB ’00), America’s most famous statistician, for a conversation on cutting through predictive noise to find a meaningful signal. Mr. Silver is the founder and editor in chief of FiveThirtyEight. This conversation will be moderated by Dr. Austan D. Goolsbee, former Chairman of President Obama’s Council of Economic Advisers and Robert P. Gwinn Professor of Economics at the Booth School of Business.
