Join the IOP as we welcome Pulitzer Prize-winning authors Nicholas D. Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn to discuss their new book Tightrope: Americans Reaching for Hope. Through telling the stories of the children of Mr. Kristof’s childhood community in rural Oregon, Tightrope elucidates aspects of the American struggle that continue to define life for much of the nation’s population. From covering the opioid epidemic to reporting on the day-to-day realities of poverty, the husband and wife duo leaves no stone unturned in telling the personal accounts of working-class Americans. Mr. Kristof and Ms. WuDunn have co-authored several books together, including A Path Appears and Half the Sky. In 1990, they were jointly awarded a Pulitzer Prize for their coverage of China. Institute of Politics Director David Axelrod will lead this discussion.
