Institute of Politics

Making Government Work

In this Institute of Politics kickoff event for the 2013-2014 school year, Sen. Elizabeth Warren—who was scheduled to speak in person—joined us via video conference to address the spending bill, the work of the Consumer Finance Protection Bureau and other topics.

After the video conference, Institute Director David Axelrod and Steve Edwards, the Institute’s deputy director of programming, talked with UChicago students about the vote in Washington and other current events, as well as the work and mission of the Institute of Politics.

Warren stayed in Washington, D.C., in order to cast her Senate vote on a spending bill that came up for consideration Friday, and was unable to make the trip to Chicago as planned.
