North Korea is one of the most mysterious countries in the world. North Korean media present Kim Jong-Un as beloved by all, but international reports allege that resistance to his leadership is met with harsh punishment. Meanwhile the country is on the cusp of developing a nuclear weapon, presenting a threat to the reset of the world. Over the past few months, debates over whether or not to engage, isolate, or destroy the regime have become increasingly pressing. Join us for a discussion with Ji-Yeon Yuh, Northwestern professor and author of the book _Beyond the Shadow of Camptown: Korean Military Brides in America, _and Karl Friedhoff, who is a public opinion and foreign policy fellow at the Chicago Council on Global Affairs, about how to deal with North Korea. Lunch will be provided. News and Views is a student-led event series on news of the day that provides UChicago students with the opportunity to hear from prominent Chicago-based academic, civic, and media leaders in a meaningful off-the-record conversation.
