New Year, New IL: Transition of Illinois Government

On January 14, J.B. Pritzker was sworn in as the 43rd Governor of Illinois, handing the Democratic Party full control of the state government. Now, with less friction between the governor’s office and the Illinois General Assembly, will the state be able to tackle its fiscal problems? What will the new administration do to address the challenges of our public education system? And how will Illinois’s relationship to the federal government change? Join the IOP as we welcome a panel of Illinois experts to discuss the landscape, the challenges, and the opportunities of the Pritzker administration. Featuring: Rep. James B. Durkin, Illinois House Republican Leader Lisa Madigan, former Illinois Attorney General and current IOP Fellow Deputy Governor Christian Mitchell This conversation will be moderated by Dave McKinney, state politics reporter for WBEZ.
