Live Taping of “The Axe Files” with Representative Ayanna Pressley (D-MA)

Join the IOP as we welcome Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D-MA) for a live taping of “The Axe Files” podcast, hosted by Institute of Politics Director David Axelrod. Together, they will discuss Rep. Pressley’s path to becoming the first woman of color to be elected to Congress from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, her hope for what can be accomplished as the 117th Congress takes its seat, and The Squad’s influence among House Democrats.

Now beginning her second term in Congress, Rep. Pressley serves on the House Committee on Financial Services and the House Committee on Oversight and Reform. She previously served on Boston’s City Council, in 2009 becoming the first woman of color elected to the Council in its 100-year history. She has also worked as a senior aide to Congressman Joseph P. Kennedy II, as well as constituency and political director for then-Senator John Kerry. Rep. Pressley grew up in Chicago, where her mother helped instill in her the importance of civic engagement and activism.

Following the recording, Representative Pressley will answer student questions.
