The student-led International Policy Program presents Denmark-US Relations and Climate Diplomacy. As long-standing cross-Atlantic allies, the United States and Denmark have collaborated over a wide array of foreign policy challenges, ranging from women’s rights to European security to democratization. More recently, with the growing threats posed by climate change, Denmark has emerged as a leader in climate finance, green technology, and collaboration in the Arctic — functioning as a critical partner in the global fight against climate change. But as new challenges emerge, the Denmark-US partnership has and continues to evolve. How will Denmark-US relations develop to respond to pressing security, economic, and environmental policy questions? How will Denmark and the United States continue to exemplify global leadership? Joining the student-led International Policy Program to highlight the long-standing history between Denmark and the United States and discuss its future is Danish Ambassador Jesper Møller Sørensen. Ambassador Jesper Møller Sørensen is the Ambassador of Denmark to the United States at the Royal Danish Embassy in Washington D.C. Previously, he served as the State Secretary for Foreign Policy in the Denmark Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Political Director of the Foreign Ministry. He has also served as the Ambassador of Denmark to Pakistan and the Deputy Ambassador of Denmark to Afghanistan.
