Join the Institute of Politics as we welcome Kai Ryssdal, host and senior editor of Marketplace, and Austan Goolsbee, Robert B. Gwinn professor of economics at the Booth School of Business and former Chairman of the Council of Economic Advisors for a discussion of the economic issues that are most important to voters – whether they realize it yet or not – heading into the 2016 campaign. Jumping off from their experience in 2008, with Ryssdal covering the recession from all angles, and Goolsbee working to construct the government’s multifaceted policy to get us out of it, they will discuss how the state of the economy has changed, what issues figure most prominently in the minds of voters, and what issues voters should know more about that may be under the radar. Also adding to the discussion will be the latest results from the Marketplace-Edison Research Poll and Economic Anxiety Index – new economic indicators focused on assessing the state of Americans’ personal economies. Doors open at 5:00pm for a reception. Speaking program will begin at 6:00pm This event is co-sponsored by Marketplace and the Chicago Booth School of Business. Made possible with generous support from JPMorgan Chase & Co.
