Human rights expert Génesis Davila is joined by disinformation expert Jiore Craig; pastor, former political prisoner, and Zimbabwean opposition leader Evan Mawarire and Lobsang Sangay, Former President of the Central Tibetan Administration. Together, they will explore how dissent is punished through imprisonment, assassination, exile and propaganda. We will learn from those who continue to resist—from behind bars and from abroad—and explore what their stories reveal about the limits and power of civil courage in the face of systemic repression. Please note that Génesis Davila and Jiore Craig will join us in person at the IOP. Evan Mawarire and Lobsang Sangay will join via Zoom. If you have any questions about accessibility, please contact iopevents@uchicago.edu. Tuesday, May 13, 2025 12:30 p.m. CST Institute of Politics
