The murder of the UnitedHealth CEO – and the country’s response to it – underscored a broader sentiment that has been fulminating in America for a generation: that the entire health care system is against we, the people who use it. Between big Pharma and their ads; health insurance companies and their denials; pharmacy benefits managers and their opaque role in prescription drug pricing, why has it been so hard for the federal government to better the way we get our health care, as other systems like the United Kingdom and Canada also unravel? What does the state of health care portend for the next Congress? Featuring Senator Chris Murphy (D-CT) and Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) who are joining via Zoom, and Thomas Fisher, MD MPH, attending emergency medicine physician at the University of Chicago Medicine. Moderated by IOP senior director Jennifer Steinhauer. If you cannot attend in person, we will be livestreaming this event on our Youtube channel.
