How are state lawmakers, election officials, digital information experts and law enforcement preparing for election day and beyond? In this hybrid event, we will hear about efforts afoot to contest votes and spread misinformation on social media, how states are preparing for possible disruptions of the ratification process and whether officials expect any replicas of the Jan 6 uprising at the state level. Featuring Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson, Maricopa County, Arizona Recorder Stephen Richer, CEO of Check My Ads Claire Atkin, Sheriff Peter Koutoujian (MA) and New York Times reporter Jim Rutenberg, who has been a dedicated chronicler of these efforts for the last decade. Please note that many guests will be joining via Zoom. **The in-person version of this program is available to students only. If you are not a current UChicago student and would like to tune in, you can watch the livestream on our YouTube Page.
