Roadmaps Toward Better Discourse: A Palestinian American's Perspectives on Transcending Divides *This seminar is open to the public Thursday, April 18 12:30-1:45pm Featuring IOP Visiting Fellow Samar Ali. What are the specific techniques and skills that we all need right now to truly listen to one another and to honestly confront our own multitude of inner conflicts and preconceptions? Can we maintain honest and rich relationships with people with whom we vehemently disagree or are even offended by? Can we prepare for peace together during such a fraught time? Samar - who has been a celebrated White House fellow as well as an ongoing target of a vicious hate campaign - brings a unique lens on national security, economic development and human rights, and is a leader in the current conversation around the war in Gaza. Special Guest (via Zoom): Gregg Hurwitz, Novelist, Screenwriter & Comic Book Writer This event will take place at the Institute of Politics (5707 S. Woodlawn Ave, Chicago, IL).
