PLEASE SEE PROCESS FOR LOTTERY SYSTEM BELOW IOP Pritzker Fellow Pete Buttigieg on "Working with Congress" THIS SEMINAR IS OPEN TO CURRENT UCHICAGO STUDENTS ONLY Tuesday, February 25 3:30-4:45pm Federal agencies manage enormous resources and hold significant power, but all of their authorities and funding depend on the United States Congress. A federal agency head has, in effect, a 535-member board of directors, each of whom has a distinct view and agenda. From shepherding legislation and informing Members about emergencies affecting their constituents to appearing at often-contentious committee hearings, engaging Congress was among the most important dimensions of my job as Secretary. In this seminar, we will discuss how federal agencies and Congress work together - and sometimes clash. LOTTERY PROCESS FOR SEC. BUTTIGIEG'S WINTER QUARTER SEMINARS All students who register will immediately be placed on a waitlist. The waitlist will close on Monday at 11:45am. All students on the waitlist will be entered into a lottery. Priority will be given to students who have not yet attended a seminar. Students pulled in the lottery will be emailed by 12:30pm on Monday. The deadline to confirm attendance will be Tuesday morning at 9:30am sharp. If you do not confirm attendance by 9:30am, your spot will be given to the next person on the list. NO EXCEPTIONS! Pritzker Fellows seminars are off the record and open to current UChicago students only. Seating in the IOP Living Room is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. If you have any questions about accessibility, please contact Sarah Palmisciano (spalmisciano@uchicago.edu).
