IOP Pritzker Fellow Ken Buck on "Kicking the Can Down the Road: How a Passive Congress Threatens Democracy" THIS SEMINAR IS OPEN TO CURRENT UCHICAGO STUDENTS ONLY Monday, October 21 12:30-1:45pm Congress was designed, in part, to be a check on the executive branch, but Congressional dysfunction increasingly leads to kicking the can down the road from the national debt to weak oversight to the rise of the administrative state and general unwillingness from Congress to solve our nation’s real problems. Toward that end, Congressman Buck will explain how he witnessed social media performance art replace actual lawmaking, and truth and good faith become casualties. Pritzker Fellows seminars are off the record and open to current UChicago students only. Seating in the IOP Living Room is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. If you have any questions about accessibility, please contact Sarah Palmisciano (spalmisciano@uchicago.edu).
