Join the IOP for a dinner discussion with former U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin moderated by John Kirby, Director of the University of Chicago Institute of Politics. The two veterans will explore Secretary Austin’s leadership during some of the nation’s most consequential national security challenges. The conversation will examine Secretary Austin’s experiences as a combat leader and as Secretary of Defense, the evolving global security landscape, and the most pressing defense and foreign policy issues facing the United States today. The discussion will also offer insights into decision making at the highest levels of government, civil-military leadership, and the future of American defense strategy. Audience members will have the opportunity to participate in a Q&A following the moderated conversation. Food will be served.
