Coworking with Opal Vadhan, Senior Advisor to Vice President Kamala Harris: Bring All Your Questions ("Dumb" or Otherwise) THIS EVENT IS OPEN TO CURRENT UCHICAGO STUDENTS ONLY Friday, June 12 12:30 - 2:30 pm IOP Living Room, 5707 S Woodlawn Ave, Chicago, IL 60637 The IOP will be coworking all day at the IOP House in the Living Room. Food will be served to keep you fueled during the workday. We will be joined during lunch from 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM by Opal Vadhan, Senior Advisor to Vice President Kamala Harris and a former IOP Fellow. We’ve all had moments when we held back from asking something because we worried it might sound obvious or “dumb.” Opal will answer those questions and anything else on your mind as you intern this summer. Participants can anonymously submit questions about politics, careers, school, or life and we’ll explore them together in an open, judgment-free discussion. Questions might be big, like “How do I figure out what to do with the rest of my life?” or practical, like “How do I have a conversation with someone who has completely different political views than I do?” Others might feel small or basic like “What’ s a question everyone else seems to understand that I don’t?” Using a simple “question bowl” activity, we’ll surface the kinds of questions people often keep to themselves and talk through them as a group. More often than not, the questions we think are “dumb” are the ones many others share. Bring your curiosity and any question you’ve ever been hesitant to ask. No questions are off the table! Career Development workshops are off the record and open to current UChicago students only. Seating in the IOP Living Room is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.
