Overview of Organization:
The Axe Files, hosted by IOP founding director David Axelrod, is a podcast produced by the University of Chicago Institute of Politics in partnership with CNN. The podcast hosts a series of revealing interviews with key figures in the political world.

Internship Summary:
The Axe Files is seeking an intern to assist with the podcast this year. Additionally, as the 2024 presidential race ramps up, the intern may also be asked to assist David with research and preparation for 2024-focused events/engagements. Interns will have the opportunity to attend live Axe Files events, speaker series, and other UChicago programming events as directed.

Responsibilities:
- Assisting with background research on guests
- Partially transcribing episodes
- Helping with daily political news summaries
- Assisting with special projects as necessary
- The ability to work under tight deadlines is crucial
- Candidates should have excellent writing skills and an eye for detail
- Journalism experience/interest in a plus, but not required

About your Supervisor:
Miriam Finder Annenberg is a Chicago-based reporter and audio journalist. She has written for a variety of print and online publications throughout Los Angeles, the San Francisco Bay Area, and Chicago reporting on everything from politics, to immigration, to education, to the arts. Her work has appeared in CNN, BBC News, Chicago Reader, The Forward, Pacific Standard, The Cut, Curbed, Chicago Tribune, Block Club Chicago, and more. She is currently the Executive Producer of The Axe Files with David Axelrod podcast.

Start and End Date:
The internship will run from June 10 to September 27, with the flexibility to accommodate specific scheduling needs.

Modality Notes

Research work will be completed mostly remotely; the intern will be able to attend a variety of events as well, and can work from the IOP when desired.
