IOP Fellow Samar Ali on "Identity, Politics & Moving the World Forward: Who Am I in This Moment" THIS SEMINAR IS OPEN TO CURRENT UCHICAGO STUDENTS ONLY Wednesday, April 17 12:30-1:45pm So many of us are seeking a path to productive discourse and respectful dissent that is the bedrock for a functional democracy. Samar Ali - who grew up in a Tennessee town that she has called the “real-life version of Schitt's Creek", the daughter of Palestinian and Syrian parents - has devoted her adult life to intentional listening, teaching and transcending divides. Come for the deconstruction of the “scare script” - used to demonize others - and stay for the tools she gives to fight off the “hate-industrial complex.” Special Guest (via Zoom): Fadi Quran, Campaigns Director for Avaaz Pritzker Fellows seminars are off the record and open to current UChicago students only. Seating in the IOP Living Room is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. If you have any questions about accessibility, please contact Sarah Palmisciano (spalmisciano@uchicago.edu).
