Chicago Public Schools CEO Strategy Intern

Organization Overview:

Internship Summary:
The Strategic Planning team at Chicago Public Schools oversees continuous improvement processes for 45 academic and operational central office departments. We are seeking an intern who is passionate about learning about systems and organizing projects. The Strategic Planning Intern will spend the majority of their time assisting with the development of the District’s first Vision Blueprint. Throughout the internship, you will gain insights into the daily operations and long-term planning of a large school system.

Responsibilities:
- Supporting Vision Blueprint by assisting in the planning and facilitation of stakeholder engagement meetings
- Synthesizing data, and developing materials for presentations and cross-functional meetings.
- Collaborating with the team on various projects which may include data analysis, educational technology, policy research, and project management.
- Exploring the relationship between freshman on-track rates and graduation rates within CPS.
- Compiling a report on how other large school systems organize their strategic monitoring towards their visions.
- Tracking progress related to central office strategic planning and creating reports to aid senior leadership in understanding team goals.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong organizational and project management skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A passion for education and commitment to CPS's mission.
- Analytical mindset and the ability to work with data.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and data analysis tools (experience with educational technology platforms is a plus).

About the Supervisor:
Nora McConnell-Johnson is the Manager of Strategic Planning and Data and is an alum of The Harris School of Public Policy at The University of Chicago.

Location and Modality:
This internship will be flexible with equal amounts of in-person and remote work. The office is located at 42 W. Madison St., Chicago IL, 60602.

Start and End Date:
The internship will run from June 10 to September 27, with the flexibility to accommodate specific scheduling needs.
