Internship Summary: We are seeking motivated candidates for a healthcare policy internship in our dynamic and fast-paced work environment. As an intern at Dobson DaVanzo & Associates, LLC, you will have the opportunity to contribute to a variety of projects, including summarizing public comments, conducting data analysis, literature reviews, and providing research support across diverse topic areas.
Responsibilities:
- Summarize public comments for healthcare payment policy proposed rulemaking.
- Assist with projects involving quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis.
- Conduct comprehensive literature reviews and synthesize findings to inform policy recommendations.
- Provide research support on a wide range of healthcare policy topics.
- Perform administrative duties as needed to support project operations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Undergraduate junior or senior, or graduate student, with a keen interest in healthcare policy.
- General knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, or other public health programs is desirable.
- Coursework in public policy, economics, healthcare management, public health, statistics, or business administration preferred.
- Ability to quickly learn and apply new content knowledge and skills.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly and coherently.
- Proficiency in statistical programs such as SAS, STATA, R, or similar tools is not required, but will be considered an advantage.
- Excellent time management and multitasking abilities to effectively manage multiple projects.
- Preference given to candidates familiar with CMS payment regulation for Prospective Payment Systems (PPS) in various healthcare settings.
- Prior work experience in healthcare research, health policy analysis, or public sector consulting is advantageous.

About the Supervisor: Michael Beins is a Senior Associate at Dobson | DaVanzo with broad expertise in qualitative and quantitative research methods. He leads and supports a range of projects, including conducting cost surveys for healthcare providers, performing economic evaluations of healthcare technologies and interventions, and supporting analyses for the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. Prior to joining Dobson | DaVanzo, Mr. Beins lived and worked internationally as a professional educator and administrator before transitioning into the field of healthcare economics.
Location, Modality and Commute: While most team members work remotely, local staff routinely use the office as their schedule allows. For example, the CEO/President works in the office every day.
Our intern will have the opportunity to complete their summer internship in a hybrid work format (i.e., work in the office 1-3 days a week and work remote the remaining 2-4 days a week). Our office is located at: 450 Maple Ave E #303, Vienna, VA 22180.
Start and End Date: The internship will run from June 9 to August 1, with flexibility to accommodate specific scheduling needs.
