Biography
Wajjeh Abuzarefah is a Palestinian journalist for NBC News based in Gaza, a position he has held since 1993. In that role he has reported on the Palestinian Authority and the rise of Hamas, all major conflicts, including the first and second intifada and the three wars in Gaza, the Israeli withdrawal from Gaza and day-to-day life in the Gaza Strip.
In addition to his work for NBC, Dr. Abuzarefah also has reported for several other national and international news organizations, including ABC Australia and France’s TF1. He also served as chief editor of the Shaab news web site.
In 2012 he completed a Ph.D. in political science from Institute of Arab Research and Studies - Cairo. He lectures at two universities in Gaza, Al-Azhar and Al-Quds, and serves as a political analyst for several Arab news organizations.
Dr. Abuzarefah also has worked a trainer for non-governmental organizations and has taught journalism courses and classes in polling and campaign management.
