Chicago is about to elect its first-ever Board of Education president at a pivotal moment for Chicago Public Schools. The winner will help set policy and approve budgets for a district grappling with perennial hundred-million-dollar deficits, declining enrollment and low reading and math test scores.
Three candidates remain in the race: current board member Jessica Biggs, former Chicago Teachers Union political director Hilario Dominguez, and attorney Victor Henderson.
Come hear directly from the candidates about where they stand on the issues facing Chicago’s schools ahead of the November 3rd election.
The forum will be moderated by the Hyde Park Herald and Chalkbeat Chicago and co-sponsored by the League of Women Voters Chicago, the University of Chicago Institute of Politics and South Side Weekly.
