IOP Pritzker Fellow Dasha Zarvina on "The War in Ukraine: A Geopolitical Perspective" THIS SEMINAR IS OPEN TO CURRENT UCHICAGO STUDENTS ONLY Thursday, April 9 12:30-1:45pm Join a powerful conversation with Nobel Peace Prize laureate Oleksandra Matviichuk — a human rights defender documenting war crimes and amplifying real stories from the ground. This seminar goes beyond headlines to explore what lies behind geopolitical decisions: what negotiations look like through the eyes of those who lose loved ones; why a year of talks became one of the deadliest for Ukrainian civilians; whether human lives truly matter in global politics; the role of the United States, and the impact of international decisions; and, ultimately, the role of ordinary people - and how Ukraine endured when it was given only weeks to survive. This is not just about geopolitics. It is about the human cost. Special Guest (via Zoom): Oleksandra Matviichuk, Ukrainian Human Rights Lawyer & Leader of Centre for Civil Liberties (Awarded the 2022 Nobel Peace Prize) Pritzker Fellows seminars are off the record and open to current UChicago students only. Seating in the IOP Living Room is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. If you have any questions about accessibility, please contact Ella Kumano-Maloney (ikmaloney@uchicago.edu).
